Excellent short video showing real-world testing of ultrasonic audio jammers. The demonstration used in this analysis incorporates a consumer-grade, but serviceable,’surreptitious’ (hardly a secret) bluetooth audio input device (Meta Ray-Ban Smart Glasses.)
Several ultrasonic jammers were tested. The two inexpensive consumer products proved useless. The two more expensive ($200-$400) deices proved to be effective in jamming audio input devices.
What is actually going on is the wide-band ultrasonic signal (up to 40 kHz) overloads the receiver (input, or microphone.) I first saw such an audio jamming device of this sort demonstrated in the mid-1980s by the man who designed the CIA’s tooth radios along with secret video recording devices used in the spy trade. He showed me a ‘spy-pen’ with a microphone and transmitter inside an innocuous-looking ball-point pen, He used this gear to bug NATO headquarters in Brussels.
His office was two doors down from Al Haig’s. Obviously his people were allowed access to NATO’s inner sanctum. Since I had been introduced to the man by Israeli spies, I presumed this was a MOSSAD operation.
Who else would resort to the use of such gear to spy on NATO HQ? The Russians wouldn’t have been caught dead using such techniques. It is unlikely the Russians would have access to the complex and be able to bug the offices and conference rooms at NATO headquarters. Moreover, the limited range of such low-powered devices would have required recording devices within close range.
The Russians operated at a far higher level of penetration. They already knew everything going on within NATO, as they monitored all of NATO’s computer systems continuously. Let’s face it, we did the same to Russia’s communications networks … only the Russians were far better at espionage than the US and its allies, especially the Europeans, who never really were on board with the NATO vision.
Worst of all, perhaps, where the Brits. Everyone knows British intelligence agents are all communist spies and pedophiles. The James Bond action hero is a Hollywood myth to sell movies to jaded American moviegoers.
Overloading the receiver is hardly a new concept. In the 1960s — the Golden Age of Magazines — there was a publication called Popular Electronics. The magazine ran an article called “Build an Ultrasonic Sniffer” by that provided instructions and a parts list to build a device for detecting ultrasonic signals. In the article, it was pointed out that the ultrasonic transducer used as the receiver could also be used as a transmitter — it worked both ways. The idea of an ultrasonic jammer was obvious, if not openly discussed.
This was about the same time that the clandestine services were recruiting subversives and plants to be fitted with implants and tooth radios based on the Puharich “stimo-ceiver” (patented, it’s in the open literature.) Of course the security services — and foreign intelligence operations, particularly Israel’s MOSSOD and the Japanese, who actually manufactured the micro-electronic surveillance devices that the Jews sold to the CIA and other intelligence agencies — would have mastered the related scientific and technological concepts.
It’s all hush-hush, of course, even if everyone in the world knows all about it. Everyone who has a need to know, anyway, in the eyes of the crypto-fascists.
The whole point of all this is to emphasize that the basic concept of the acoustic jammer can be utilized with almost any audio recording device, surreptitious or otherwise. The sad fact is, practically anything in your house or automobile can be used as a secret listening device, even including such seemingly low-tech devices as light bulbs. It is impossible to be certain one is not being surreptitiously monitored at any given times, or at all times, for that matter. The only way we are ever going to effectively prevent technology from being used for mass surveillance and control of the population is to address the problem from the top.

In this video, I test the audio recording capabilities of the Meta Ray-Ban Smart Glasses to see how far away they can capture conversations in a public setting like a coffee shop or cafeteria.
Using a Bluetooth speaker set to roughly conversational volume, I recorded audio samples from 1 table away, 3 tables away, 5 tables away, and 7 tables away — approximately 40 feet. I then ran the recordings through AI transcription software to see what could still be understood.
The results were surprising: the Meta glasses were able to capture intelligible conversation from 29 feet away, and even picked up portions of the conversation from around 40 feet away.
I also tested several possible countermeasures, including ultrasonic rodent repellents, a Bluetooth speaker playing a high-frequency tone, and two dedicated ultrasonic anti-recording devices. The cheaper alternatives failed, but both dedicated ultrasonic jammers created enough interference that AI transcription could no longer understand the recorded conversation under my test conditions.
